Association & Cooperation with School
KYWA fully supports youth activities and experience activities through school curricula (Creative Experience Activities and the Free Semester Program) and promotes various projects including developing and demonstrating youth activity programs, conducting research on youth activity demands, and supporting career paths. Also, it strongly supports Community Youth Service Centers, which promote youth activity policy at the local level.
Youth Activity Information Service
We provide a comprehensive youth information service, collecting a variety of information such as youth-related events, news and programs. The latest information related to youth activities conducted by youth facilities and groups is updated in real time.
Youth Activity Accreditation System
The system aims to enhance the content and quality of youth activities. The Youth Activity Accreditation System denotes a national accreditation system that certifies youth activity programs as having met specified requirements. At the same time it maintains, manages and provides activity records for young people participating in the accredited activities. As of September 2013, 2,074 programs have been accredited, with about 200 thousand program participants.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, Korea
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is an internationally recognized self-development program. Young people from the ages of 14 to 25 experience physical fitness, self-development, volunteering and exploration activities to develop their full potential and life skills that can change local communities and society. KYWA serves as the Korea National Award Authority, and in accordance with the new regulations of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, has become qualified for the world’s first full member. As of September 2013, 18,064 young people have taken part in the program in 1,074 Award units.
Youth Volunteer Activities
The agency operates an on-line system for young volunteers(dovol.youth.go.kr). This system supports young people to volunteer by providing an information of volunteering project, registration and certificate on the net. Moreover, young people can their own Portfolio within the system. As of September 2013, over 1.8 million youth volunteers have participated in the activities through 9,126 registered agencies. In addition, KYWA dispatches annually 300 Korean youth volunteers to five countries in Asia, and organizes Korea’s Global Youth Service Day every May.
International Youth Exchange
We operate Youth Exchange Center for the purpose of empowering young people to become global citizens by conducting international exchange projects in conformity with the International Youth Exchange Agreement with 32 countries all over the world. We also hold the Global Youth Empowerment Summer Camp for all Korean young people from around world to communicate with each other and experience activities together. We also hold Asian Youth Worker Training for youth workers in Asia.

Prior Reporting System for Youth Training Activities
As per the Prior Reporting System for Youth Training Activities, the execution plans for youth training activities targeting youth under the age of 19 must be reported in advance and the reported and registered items are released online so that people can utilize the available information. The host of the youth training activities must register their reporting to the applicable city, county, or district 14 days in advance. Once the reporting of the youth training activities is completed, the host should indicate and inform whether the activities have been certified, satisfy the safe management criteria, and are insured in printed materials, boards, and internet websites which are clearly visible to the participants of the activities.
National Youth Congress
The National Youth Congress, a youth-led initiative that proposes policies from the young people's perspective, has been held annually since 2005 in accordance with Article 12 of Youth Basic Law. It is comprised of youths and youth experts selected from 17 cities and provinces across Korea, and they suggest what they view as the most critical and urgent policies to the government. A total of 328 policies have been proposed as of 2012, of which 288, a rate of 87.8%, were applied in government policies.
Youth After-School Academy
This project is a Government initiative designed to improve the quality of young people’s after-school time. It provides youths (4th - 8th grades) with various services including youth activity programs and life management. Approximately 8,100 youths are participating in about 200 nationwide youth facilities and public institutions.
Support for Arts & Culture Education
We support arts and culture education for youth between the ages of 13 and 18 in order to provide opportunities to enhance cultural sensitivity and self-understanding. The project is held in Youth Centers that are capable of providing performance art education and programs, hosted by the Korea Youth Work Agency and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service with Government support.
KYWA Type PBL Project
KYWA type PBL, as a project-based learning endeavor, is a youth activity designed to help adolescents develop 'core competencies for youth activities' through a process wherein they actively solve challenging questions and share results.
* PBL (Project Based Learning) is a learning model based on constructivist epistemology to embody a learner-centered educational environment. Narrowly speaking, it is one of the ‘learner-centered teaching and learning methods’, which are effective teaching methods for in-depth learning, and it can be broadly understood as a 'paradigm shift' across learning as a reflective alternative to the traditional education.
